After over a year of conversation and planning, Furnal Equinox has finally come and gone in truly spectacular fashion. The weather even cooperated with lots of sunshine and springlike temperatures all weekend, with the mercury hitting 12 C on Sunday!
But most importantly, the furry community responded in spectacular fashion to the call of the Equinox, exceeding even our wildest expectations. As announced at closing ceremonies on Sunday night, the final registration count for Furnal Equinox 2010 was 330 attendees, including 40 fursuiters who participated in activities throughout the con.
This is a truly remarkable feat... and it could not have happened without the support of our staff and volunteers who put in countless hours running registration, talking with panelists and guests of honour, picking up equipment and supplies, staffing con ops... you name it. Special mention should go to our security team led by Arctic, who handled their duties with tremendous professionalism and enthusiasm.
With the inaugural year in the books, everybody needs a well-deserved break and we'll likely be lying low for a little while, but keep an eye on our website at furnalequinox.com for the following over the next little while:
- A member survey - tell us what we did right, what we did wrong and what you'd like to see next year.
- The Furnal Equinox gallery - upload your pictures for everyone to see!
- Further information about Furnal Equinox 2011!
Speaking of 2011... if you're interested in getting involved with FE next year, please get in touch with us. We're definitely looking for interested people to work on us with ALL levels, from volunteers to staff to convention committee members.
To conclude... right from the beginning, we said that Toronto deserves a furry convention. It has finally happened, and you have proved it with flying colours with your enthusiasm and behaviour at the event. You have embraced it and made it your own. And we can ask for nothing more.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for all of your support, and we'll see you next year for FE 2011!
